HSK 6 (Level 6) is the top tier of HSK 2.0 and was designed to certify that the holder can easily understand any spoken or written Chinese they encounter, and can express themselves fluently in both speech and writing on any topic. It is the standard requirement for top graduate programs in China, for many translation and interpretation jobs involving Mandarin, and for senior bilingual roles at multinational companies operating in greater China.
The exam covers 5000 active words (double HSK 5), listening at full native speed with no repeats and minimal pauses, reading passages drawn from real literature, journalism, and academic writing, and a writing task that asks you to read a 1000-character passage in 10 minutes and then write a 400-character summary of it in 35 minutes.
